Kristin Thorsen is a mixed media artist based in Decatur, Georgia, whose work explores the boundaries between imagination, memory, and emotion. Creating richly detailed, dreamlike worlds, she invites viewers into spaces where reality bends and the surreal becomes familiar. Her layered compositions reward repeated viewing, revealing new discoveries with each encounter.
While attending community college, she immersed herself in fine art studies and earned a scholarship to study abroad in Imatra, Finland. The experience broadened her artistic perspective and helped shape the experimental approach that continues to define her work today.
After returning to the United States, Thorsen attended the Atlanta College of Art from 2002 to 2004 and has maintained an active studio practice ever since. Galleries and spaces throughout Atlanta have exhibited her work and she has curated numerous exhibitions and fundraising events, contributing to the growth and vitality of her creative community. Additionally, her work has been featured on the cover of Decatur Magazine and in Atlanta Magazine and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
