Saba is a ceramics handbuilding instructor specializing in the creation of weird little creatures and highly textured sculptures, taking advantage of American raku whenever possible. They obtained a BFA in Ceramics and a BA in Art History from Georgia State University, resulting in a wealth of knowledge about the specific technical processes behind ceramics that they love to impart onto their students.
Although Saba's classes are open to any type of ceramic maker, their expertise is especially helpful for those seeking to make sculptural or figurative work. Their classes often begin with a suggested project with specific steps provided, but branch into autonomous projects and individual work as students become more comfortable with clay. Saba loves to provide knowledge, so giving advice and mentorship is a great part of the job!
Saba is soon-to-have two children in addition to their two dogs, living locally with their husband in Dunwoody. They participate in way too many side projects, like writing fantasy novels, doing digital painting, attempting amateur embroidery and fiber arts, and painting miniatures for tabletop games.
Although Saba has no plans for a website or a storefront, you can currently see more of their work via @kilnbeasts on Instagram.
